I had the opportunity to invite Jacopo Baboni Schilingi to ISEA 2000 with his project with the artist ARMAN, to present their work Vénus à gonds. Jacopo Baboni Schilingi comes from the world of “art music”, which places particular emphasis on compositional writing and interactivity. He is one of the most representative composers of his generation, both within the circles of conservatoires and so-called classical concert halls and on a new scene of multidisciplinary artistic expression bringing together images, architecture and interaction with audiences. His work with Arman in the 2000s initiated a series of digital creations that continues to find expression throughout the world, with artists such as Miguel Chevalier, Jean-Pierre Balpe, Alain Fleischer, Elias Crespin and Sarkis.
If the Ars Numerica project were to become active again, I am convinced that Jacopo Baboni Schilingi could be a competent Director, capable of intelligently leading teams in artistic projects using digital tools. His wish to involve private sponsorship in supporting digital art projects seems to me of crucial importance for the development of art today.
With this letter, I express my wish to support Jacopo Baboni Schilingi’s candidacy for the artistic directorship of the Ars Numerica project, with which I am ready to collaborate as President of the Le Cube Digital Creation Centre.
