English translation

I have known Mr Jacopo Baboni Schilingi for a long time. We have met on several occasions in concerts and shared the stages of contemporary musical life since our encounters at IRCAM in the 1990s.

Since then, Jacopo Baboni Schilingi has pursued an exceptional career, both in initiating innovative new projects and in the more specific field of composition, in which he is undoubtedly one of the most original and talented composers of his generation.

While our meetings over those years always bore fruit of a broadly artistic kind, as occasional encounters between composers often do, since 2011, at the initiative of Daniel Teruggi and the Groupe de Recherches Musicales, we have held meetings for discussion and deeper theoretical and practical exploration of artistic creation in general. Our encounters have become more frequent, and I am always struck by the breadth of his knowledge, his lively mind and the acuity of his analyses and reflections.

His field of action is wide: he is a researcher and composer, has extensive teaching experience, and is the author of theoretical writings of great value, not to mention his ability to organise and lead collective projects.

I am convinced that Jacopo Baboni Schilingi possesses very rare and valuable qualities.

For all these reasons, I believe that appointing him to the position he seeks is an opportunity to seize. I would simply add that throughout our encounters in various circumstances, I have come to appreciate and recognise in him a profound knowledge of musical currents and repertoires, as well as a very broad philosophical and literary culture. His lively mind, humanity and creative talent make him a truly exceptional person.

I remain at your disposal for any information that may be useful, and offer my respectful greetings.
